Why the essential phone?

What is your reason for choosing this phone over the others.

My reasons:
128gb storage
Flat screen
Building materials
A nice clean nearly stock Android experience
No branding on the phone
No bloatware (even on the Sprint variant)

I am aware of the camera issues, which I don't care about. The HTC U11 changed my mind on usb c head phones. You can get a nice dongle that has a dac in it to make your music sound better. Water resistance isn't a huge selling point for myself.

- Near-stock Android without bloat
- Nearly all current US/EU/ASEAN radio bands
- Flat display with Sharp LCD
- SD835/4GB/128GB

Bonuses:
- No branding
- Rare
- Not the average slab of aluminum/glass

Essential is a new player who is not afraid of being unconventional. Any manufacturer can spec premium hardware. Pulling it together into a cohesive design is the real trick.

New player coming out with new elegant design that every smartphone manufacturer wants to build - that's something! And the fact that it comes with pure stock Android with no additional skin.
