Regardless of the reason, it's a pretty poor decision to at least not make it optional (as far as I'm aware). For example, what if someone is inside all day or has an unusual sleep/wake cycle? And what about 6 or 7 o' clock, which may look the same in the morning and evening at times of the year? Not sure as to the "why", but I would imagine it's probably considered redundant information. I'm pretty sure we can all tell the difference between 2:00 in the afternoon from 2:00 in the morning.

Fixed that for you. I think that was a Samsung option, I'd have to check my Nexus 6P when I get home to see if it was on Oreo on that device. Considering the timing of the post, I'm assuming we're discussing a Samsung device, but I could be wrong...

I prefer 24h time on my phone for that reason. That way I can't mistakenly set my alarm for 6 pm instead of 6 am. I'll never mistake 06:00 and 18:00.I work a graveyard shift and sometimes wake up and look at my clock confused as to whether I slept my whole day off or if I had a normal sleep. I think it's ridiculous that a company like Samsung doesn't have the forsight at least include it in rhe accessibility tab for people that don't have normal sleeping schedule. I aslo have blackout curtains so I can'tjust look out my windows.
