Why won't any of my apps use my SD card on the S7?

AC Question

Hi,

I have a Galaxy S7 with a 128gb SD card installed. I recently realized that none of my apps that allow me to save data to the SD card actually do it. Netflix, Prime Video, and my podcast app all are set in their internal settings to save downloads to the SD card but none of them actually do, they all save to the internal storage. I haven't been able to find anyone else having this problem, and can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Why won't any of my apps use my SD card?

Welcome to the forums. Use of the SD card is determined by the developer. If they choose not to support it, data can't be moved. The only way you could force it, is if you alter the device to accept sd cards as adoptable. but bear this in mind: if you do that, the card becomes encrypted, and can't be read by any other device. I think this holds true if you reset your phone.

Correct, if you factory reset the adoptable storage is either wiped or becomes unreadable, based on the OEM's implementation.

I have Samsung galaxy s7 and I have 32GB sd card fitted aswell I can only save third party apps to sd card but I have to do it manual but remember some apps crash when transferred to sd card plus if you have apps installed on sd card and the apps gets updated they move back to phone storage for some reason plus only things I can save to sd card is photos and videos and data from web browsers that's it thanks
