Why won't google calender notifications stop?

[Android Central Question]

I have Google Calendar and Calendar Notifier. The alerts, the chime and vibration, will not stop even when I hit dismiss on Notifier and turned the notification off in Calendar. The only way to get it to stop is to turn the phone completely off.
