why won't my android update to kitkat?

I had bought a Kyocera Hydro Life from Metro PCS and every time I boot it up I get promoted for a mandatory firmware update. I am currently stuck with android version 4.3 and I really want the KitKat 4.4 update. I try and update and when I check it is still the same version, I have done everything I could think of to finally receive the update, which of course I found out is available for my phone and through metro, but they can't figure it out either. I would really appreciate help resolving this issue.

Firmware is different than Software. So if you want KK then see if there is a unofficially made CyanogenMod 11. I don't think there is, but it's worth a try. And see if you have the space to install the Firmware update you where talking about.
