Samsung Galaxy S7 Active - Bluetooth works great in my car for phone calls, but it will not read my texts. I'm coming from a Windows phone that did both. It asked me if i would like to "read it" or "ignore it", then ask if I'd like to "reply" to it. This is my biggest issue with the phone at the moment. Does anyone know how to get this to work?

Is your Bluetooth device set as a trusted device? I also came from a Windows phone and I drive an older model so I have a separate BT device (Moto Roadster 2). On WP, it worked pretty well - I could push the button to summon Cortana and texts were also read out loud without additional configuration on the phone. On Android, at least for me, I had to add it as a trusted device so that it can interact when the screen is locked. You have to be connected to the device to do this. Now, I can push that same button and it's basically 'Ok Google'. I'm also prompted to read/reply and ignore texts when they come in.

I almost took my Civic to the dealer for a check when my texts suddenly didn't appear. I could place and answer calls with the Bluetooth connection, but no texts. I had been able to have the texts read and could reply in the car, but suddenly no. Here is the problem: if a new app asks for permissions, it can block your texts in your car. Go to settings, then to apps and then look at all app settings. If an recently installed or updated app shows access to SMS that may be your problem. In my case, it was an AVG app and I allowed it SMS permission. That blocked my texts inside the car's Bluetooth read out. I uninstalled AVG and my texts read as before. Good luck!
