Why won't my Contacts sync?

I changed a contact on my PC. I have "Automatically sync" set to On, I'm at home and the phone is connected to WiFi with a strong signal. Under "Google contacts sync", in the Status box I see "Starting sync. Last sync 5 days ago" and the spinning circle icon. It's been like this for a few hours now.

Welcome to Android Central! Where on your PC did you edit your contact? Was it on the contacts.google.com website in your browser? Or was it in the Windows 10 People app? The latter might not sync directly with your Google account (I've never tried that). It's always best to edit your contacts on the Google Contacts website, which will then sync immediately with your phone (assuming Google Contacts sync is turned on on your phone).
