Why won't my device update?

why won't my device update?

Lg g3, version 4.4.2, never updated before. when I try to update my phone, the only option is continue update but it doesn't work. It pops up "a new software version is available. Check progress in the notification panel." Nothing happens, there is no notification or update.

Have you checked via Settings, General, About Phone, Software Updates (or something very similar)?
Or, via Update Centre (though not all users have that app)?

I checked through settings, that app isn't compatable with my phone
