Why won't my G4 recognize my battery?

I bought an extended battery from Powerbear with a capacity of 6500mah. My G4 works with it, but still says that it has only a 3000mah battery. The new battery lasts as long as the old stock one, as the phone is only charging it up to half its potential power. Do I need to initialize the battery somehow, or is it something with the phone or android 6.0?

Welcome to Android Central! I'd be concerned that the battery is not truly 6500 mAh. Can you contact Powerbear and ask for an exchange or refund?
