Why wont my galaxy 3 tablet charge after being dead for months

I lost my charger September 2015, My tablet died. I always kept forgetting to get a new charger. When I finally got one, January 2016, I tried charging my tablet, but it wont charge. The screen is black, nothing turning on, no flashing, just still black. I have tried charging it for a whole day, still didn't turn on. I seriously have no clue what happened to it and i need help or advice. Any sensible recommendations would be appreciated
