Why won't my Galaxy tab 2 connect to the internet

My Galaxy tab 2 says that it's connected to the internet but when I go to view web pages it says web page not available.

Welcome to Android Central! If you're truly talking about the Galaxy Tab 2 (and not the Tab S2), that's a 9 year old tablet. The software is woefully out of date, and that likely is preventing it from accessing the web. It's time to upgrade to a more recent tablet.

Even the Tab S2 is quite old at this point (6 years) and is only upgraded to Marshmallow or Nougat (depending on the version). It's teetering on the edge of 'not really worth trying to get working' territory.
