Why won't my Galaxy Tab S turn off?

[AC Question]

My galaxy tab s won't turn off

I can press the power button to turn the screen on and off but I can't use any apps and the touch screen is unresponsive and no matter how long I hold down the power button I don't get the option to power off

Welcome to Android Central! You should be able to force a shutdown on pretty much any Android device by pressing and holding Power for at least 10-15 seconds. Did you hold it down for that long? If you did, then the power button itself might be faulty.
