Why won't my gallery share images and videos to my google drive?

[Android Central Question]

I want to delete my photos and videos from my gallery on my phone, but still have them available on the google drive. I've looked around on the internet, and it says press the share button in Gallery after selecting the images. But it only takes me to share the images to other devices. I'm really confused, and i don't want to lose my stuff, but still clear up space on my phone. Please explain this and help! I have an Android galaxy A10e

Welcome to Android Central! It works more smoothly if you just use Google Photos to back up your photos -- is there a specific reason you want them on Drive?

They actually stopped backups from going to Drive awhile back opting to use Photos exclusively. That's not to say that you shouldn't be able to send individual items there for sharing in other ways. I don't know why that wouldn't work but B. Diddy is correct auto features have been moved to Photos.

On a side note, sharing media items from photos works just the same as it did from Drive. You can create a shareable link, share entire folders, send and share individual items.
