Why won't my LG Extravert 2 stay on?

Android Central Question

I've had my extravert for a few years as a vacation phone. Today it started acting up. I was texting a friend when it shut down, no powering down screen, nothing, nada. I plugged it in, thinking that it might help. It comes on and says that the battery's full, so I unplugged it and held the power on button. There was no response. I plugged it back in and turned it on that way. The phone booted up nicely and went to the menu screen. A few seconds after being turned on, it shut down, no Verizon logo saying that it was shutting down. I had it near water earlier so I have it sitting in rice. (After taking the back off and checking the circuitry, which in fact, does not look wet in the part I could see) I don't think the water is the problem. Any idea as to why it isn't turning on?

Welcome to Android Central! The battery has probably failed. It could be due to water damage, but that phone is almost 5 years old, so that's pretty old for a battery. Try a new battery.
