AC Question

So for example i receive a text message, click the three dots, add to contacts, create new contact, type in information, click the tick sign and it says contact saved. an hour later it has deleted the contact so it just shows the number at the top of a text, not the name and i have to do it again. it does this via saving from text, phone call and saving through the contacts app

Welcome to the forums. This is strange. Try a couple of things. Open the Contacts app - three dots top right - contacts to display. What do you have selected here? Also, when you add a contact, what do you see under the avatar? Is it the right Google account?

when i open the contacts to display option it says "all contacts". and i'm not sure what you mean by avatar but it has outlook account, not google account. Is this the problem? Thankyou

Hello Ross, thanks for registering. Not sure, but maybe your new contacts are being created as Outlook ones and that's the problem.

Possibly. But on what contatcs are shown it says "all", so surely it should still save them and show them. Unless because its outlook it doesn't save numbers. How do i change it so that it saves under a gmail account? Thanks

Try this. When you add a contact tap on 'more fields' and the first option includes a drop down menu to select the account to save it.

I prefer just using Google contacts, so it's easier to have a backup and better to avoid duplicates.

So after doing as Javier P said it seems to have kept the contact, whereas it would have been 30 minutes to an hour and it would have been gone. Thanks everyone. Hopefully this will help someone else out

Glad it helped and thanks for the follow up. See you around the forums.

This was the problem for me as well: saving as an outlook contact rather than a Gmail contact. I solved that by going to outlook app>settings>click email address>turn off sync contacts
