Why won't my nexus 7 reboot

Checked the previous answers but mine will not start using the power button and volume down button for several minutes. It did work yesterday but only took a 30%charge. When that went it will not start or charge at all now. When I hold the buttons I just get a flashing light at the bottom. Tried to remove the back but only succeeded in breaking a corner of the screen. Had it for 18 months. Is it a goner.?

There were 2 versions of the Nexus 7 tablets, if I remember correctly one was manufactured in 2012 and the other in 2013, both are getting a bit old and the battery could be faulty. If it's the Nexus I remember it is unlikely to have been been new 18 months ago. Probably time to upgrade seeing as the screen is now damaged.
