Why won't my Note 3 work without its S Pen?

my note 3 won't work without its spen

So my note 3 won't read my fingers anymore. It was working fine a moment ago and then it did a system update. Now I a need my spen which I'm not to happy about. I have no idea how or if there is a way to fix this problem. So can anyone help?

The update evidently messed up the digitizer. (The S-Pen doesn't use the digitizer, there's a separate layer in the screen to read it.) If it was an over the air update, it's the carrier's responsibility, so bring it to them and ask them to please fix their update. (Over the air updates can go bad if there's a burst of noise on the signal. They do it connected to the phone by wire, so that can't happen.)
