Why won't my phone dial or send text messages?

I have a Samsung galaxy s4. I am having problems saying it is not registered on a network and will not dial and when a call comes in it goes straight to voicemail. Also at various times it will not send text messages.

Bring the phone into your carrier. It could be a bad SIM card, a bad setup in your account or a problem in the phone.

If the SIM port is loose (the card won't make contact even if they replace it), putting a single sheet of paper on top of the card (not on the gold contact side - and cut to the size of the card) will sometimes provide enough pressure to make a better contact. (Don't use more than one sheet of normal printer paper - more pressure can really damage the port.)
