why wont my s7 connect to my computer

When I plug my phone into the USB port my computer wont recognize it.

Welcome to Android Central! When you plug in, swipe down the notification panel and look for a USB connection icon. Tap it and make sure MTP is selected.

The cable you use makes a difference. If you can use the one that came with the phone.
