Why won't my Samsung S4 show on my pc?

my Samsung S4 wont show on my pc

the pc says it is ready to use but i cant find the device

You usually need to unlock your phone for the PC to detect it (unlock as in screen unlock).

I'm having a similar issue. Mine doesn't say anything when it's connected but it's getting a charge. I tried turning off my firewall and restarting my phone but that didn't seem to do anything. I can't figure out how to reset my USB if that happens to be the problem..:'(
