Why won't my sim card slot close?

My sim card slot was working fine an hour ago, its the correct slot for the phone. However a few minutes ago my sim card stopped 'reading' so i had to take it out to get it to work but while i was using the slot opener i heard a click and now it won't go in all the way.. How do I fix it?

Which phone do you have? Are you certain you put the SIM in the proper direction?

Did it sit flush in the tray, does it also house a SD card ?

Welcome to Android Central! If you're pushing the SIM tray pin pretty firmly and nothing is happening, it's probably best to take the phone to a repair shop and have them look at it. Don't try to force it.

Yes its snug in the tray also houses a SD card, it'll go in almost all the way and not budge.

you are not doing what I tend to do, put the tray in upside down? Make sure you match the pin hole on the tray to the pin hole in the slot.
