Why won't my widgets stay on my homepage?

Every time I create a widget for a contact it disappears. Why won't it stay on my homepage?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Can you give the exact steps you're doing to place the contact widget on the homescreen? Does the widget get created first, then after a while it disappears? Or does it never actually get created in the first place?
