Android Central Question

Why would a Carrier (SafeLink) need to reprogram my my LG305C phone?
I can understand a Reprogram/Update from LG.
I've been searching the Internet, but can't find anything. This Site is the closest to getting an answer as I've found.
I keep getting this Text of sorts from SafeLink every day for a month;
"Please contact our Customer Care Center at (their phone number) to complete this transaction".
I've ordered nothing, nor have I purchased anything. After being disconnected from SafeLink's "Live Chat" ( Because I don't type or see well) The next person I talked (Live Chatted) to said my "Phone needed to be reprogrammed". I don't understand. The Texts say "Transaction", but this SafeLink person says "Reprogrammed". I reply; "I don't trust you, and will have to get back to them". I ended the chat, and tried to Print it, but that Option didn't work... How convenient.
These Texts(?) have been coming in every day for a Month. I don't trust them.
I haven't received my notice to Requalify yet. When I do... I'll ask them too.
I hope someone here can figure this out.

Is this a phone you've been using on the network with no issues? Have you noticed a degradation of service with the phone? Have you tried actually calling the customer service number to find out if they've detected an issue with your device that prompted them to send such notices?

Welcome to Android Central! SafeLink is an MVNO that is owned by Tracfone, and they use towers from all 4 (and now 3) major carriers in the US -- Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile/Sprint. Since T-Mobile merged with Sprint and has been making a lot of changes to the network to consolidate them, that might be why the phone needs to be reprogrammed -- otherwise, it might stop being able to connect to the network.

I really don't think SafeLink is out to get you. Call their support team and talk to them directly if you want a clearer explanation.

This was years ago but I remember when I was at Verizon we occasionally reprogrammed an old phone so it would recognize newer towers.

That would assume that the SIM the OP is using is for the CDMA networks (Verizon or Sprint) that SafeLink uses, right?
