Why would my screen sit and flicker? It's a Droid Maxx

The screen sits and flickers no matter if you are using it or not, I have rebooted it and cleared caches out.

Welcome to Android Central! The screen actually briefly flickers off, or is it just a stutter? It sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

If it's been dropped significantly, I'd say you would need a new screen. Only other cause might be a conflict with a 3rd party brightness app. Cycle out of your current run-time engine (art/dalvik in developer options), then back in. Also, clear the cache.
