Wi-Fi connectivity

So everyone come on the second gen Moto 360, for Wi-Fi connectivity when your phone and the water but connected to the same Wi-Fi network you're supposed to be able to go out of the 30-foot Bluetooth range / proximity and get all notifications and function perfectly without the phone right? Has anyone had issues with this before? Also, does the watch Ever kick itself off the Wi-Fi network? Thank you for your help. Just trying to understand this function of Moto 360. I love the function because my phone iz not always near me or on me.
