I just got a note 5. Wifi works for me at home, but at work (where i cant do anything with the wifi) it will connect (only with a static ip) but cannot see any other device on the network (only thing that shows up is my phone, no router, no modem etc)

The network worked fine on my note 2, with no problem other than needing a static ip.

I have tried all the tricks people have posted in general for 5.1.1 wifi issues. And none have worked. (Cleared cache partition, forgot the network, etc)

Any ideas or help would be apreciated thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify--when you connect to your work wi-fi, does it say "Connected, No Internet"? Does your company have an IT department you can talk to?

It says connected, has good wifi signal at the top. But i dont think it says anything about internet. I have FING on my phone and when run it only shows my phone.

As for an IT department. That would be me for the most part. They have outside people come in to work on the major stuff. But i fix the computers and general network stuff. The wifi is through a couple of hotspots in the building. As for getting into the main system thats through the outside agency. So im pretty much out of luck. And its just my phone having problems.

When im there tomorow il see if it says anything about no internet.

Do you have control over the router? Can you reboot the router?

I could. Problem is it runs the whole business through there. And honestly im not sure where the actual wifi router is. There are 2 access points i unplugged one and i still had wifi.

If you can find the main router, maybe you could reboot it after hours, or before anyone shows up at work.

Nope cant do that. Main router controlls everything phone lines included at 2 different stores. And they open and close at different times.

Are you able to log into the router settings, and perhaps change the security protocol (i.e., from TKIP to AES, or WEP to WPA)?

Unable to as i dont have the login and password to get into it. I fix general computer and network problems. Dont have enough pull to get into the cisco firewall/router.

Reading back through this thread, I think I misunderstood something--you're trying to get your phone connected to your work's WLAN? I thought it was only a problem with not being able to access the web via your work's wi-fi.
