One think I liked about the LG V20 is the wide angle camera for great wide angle shots.

The Note 8 has this capability - I didn't realize but you can achieve wide angle shots with live focus mode and remove the blur as desired. I'm going to test it out today to see the results.

If anyone here has used this often for wide angle shots, please share some of those photos.

I believe this is with the wide angle lens, but it's not the best example.

Don't be fooled. This will just result in a photo exactly the same as you'd get from the normal lens/auto mode.

When you press Live Focus you'll notice it zoom in because it changes to using the telephoto lens then uses the normal/wide angle lens to create the blur. So basically it takes 2 photos, one with each lens then merges them together at whatever level you choose using the blur adjustment. When you choose 'Wide Angle' on the photo afterwards all you're actually doing is choosing the photo that came from the normal camera.

I know I'm not explaining this very well lol but try taking a photo using your method then keeping the phone in the same position to take an auto mode shot and I promise they'll be identical.

Wide angle adapter? I've not tried the camera add one. prefer not to have to monkey with extra parts

I see that now lol. that live focus wide is same as auto focus regular.

Below I was able to mimic a wide angle shot in the 2 d photo. ast taken auto, 2nd landscape.

I usually use Tapatalk and don't have issues except today the app isn't working at all. shows the last postings were 19 hrs ago .

I'm now in the Android forum and I have issues getting photos to post the right way on here.

The Note 8 doesn't have a wide angle camera. Samsung marketing... They referred to their regular camera which is pretty close to the LGs regular one as "wide angle" and the 2md one as telephoto. What is the definition of wide? LGs 1st camera is approximately the same width as the Note 8's wide angle, and their 2nd isn't a telephoto/zoom lens, but rather a wide angle lens that is a good 40 degrees wider than the Note's. It's too bad that LGs auto camera is so slow to focus and such a crap shoot. With the Note or Pixel, if you take your phone out quickly and snap a photo, 9/10 times it will look pretty good. With the LG more like 1/2. If you use manual focus, you can get the LG to better photos but you need to know what you're doing, and obviously have the time. So not great for capturing kids in spontaneous photos.

I have an LG V20 that has been a good, problem free daily driver. When I got the urge to upgrade the Note 8 was my choice because among other things I wanted a device that had a good quality zoom lens. I ported the Google Pixel camera on both of my phones and couldn't be happier with all the options I have to turn out some great looking photos, whether wide field of view or close up.
