Wide video and rotating?

Just got a Galaxy S4, however when I try to take a video with my phone turned sideways the video does not automatically rotate for my computer. Basically, trying to record in widescreen results in my viewing a skinny video sideways no matter which way I turn the phone and try to record. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

Sorry, it's not entirely clear to me what you're saying. What do you mean by your phone turned "sideways"? Do you mean landscape or portrait orientation?

Ok, so you're holding the phone in landscape mode, intending to take a video in landscape orientation, and the video ends up orienting in portrait mode when you view it on your computer?

I don't have an S4, so I had to check some YouTube videos about its camera settings. Bring up your camera, tap the Settings icon, and tap the symbol for the Video Camera settings. The menu should say "Recording Mode," and there should be a setting for "Normal" vs "Limit for MMS." Which one is selected? If it's "Limit for MMS," it might be recording the videos in a compressed format optimized for sending via text message, which might also force it to look distorted on a computer screen.

Here's the YouTube video:

Thanks, I appreciate the effort, however it is set to "normal". My auto-rotate setting on my phone is set as off so maybe that affects the camera, I will test that theory.

Sorry I can't help you further. This is the kind of thing I'd need an S4 of my own (or your actual S4) to test with.

I have the same problem, which I have been unable to fix. But I have noticed that the orientation when you initially press record, is the orientation that the phone remembers for the whole video, i.e. If I press record and then turn the phone sideways to film something the phone will not let me view it widescreen, it autorotates to a thin out of shape film that is in the wrong direction. If I hold it widescreen and press record it seems fine, very annoying though.
