Widget direct to dial?

Get Better Direct Dial. It is a shortcut. You can assign it to Nova Guesstures, just as I have done.
Thank you, that worked like a charm! Too bad I wasted two bucks on the other apps :-\ I would have rather donated that to the Better Direct Dial dev.

Ok, just found something. I just opened a contact, tapped the 3 dot menu at the top. There is an option in that list to create a shortcut on the home screen. It makes a dial/text widget for that person and you can move it around like any icon or widget.

I actually have the widget on my s6 (Wind Mobile in Canada).

Hmm..I wonder why some don't seem to have that widget. I guess one of the carriers could have removed that, they have removed stranger things before with Samsung updates.
It's entirely possible. I don't have the ability to sort my apps from A-Z, but I know others do. I don't understand why these things would be removed though.

I don't know..carriers are weird about some of that stuff. When ICS came out and you could modify the notification panel, AT&T took that away from us. They gave it back with a later update because so many people complained.

I'm on AT&T, and I have the "contact" widget ... but what I do not have anymore (that I had on my S4) are the two other similar widgets - one that is a "one touch dial" ... and the other that is a "one touch message".

Luckily, there is a third-party widget for one-touch dialing ... but I dont know if there's one for one-touch messaging.

Ohhhhhhh...that is what they are missing then, the one touch. I always just used the contact widget and had "two touch" because then I just had one widget to call or text that person.

I saw a screenshot of the S6 widget earlier tonight and there was just the one contact widget, not the 3 like I have.

Yeah I think we all have the "Contact Widget", but we no longer have the One Touch to directly call or text a contact from said widget.

I removed the one touch dial after using it for a day, long ago. I added the contact widget, so I could choose to dial or text.

There are merits to both style widgets ... I have a home screen dedicated strictly to phone stuff, with about 6 direct-dial people on it, along w/ the phone, contacts and voicemail app icons. For texting, I never delete texts, so I just open my text app and can find the person I want to text within a few seconds and just go from there.

That said, I may change to the standard contact widget so that I can more easily get to the texting app for a specific contact, but it's so nice to just tap a single icon on my home screen and have the phone dial out immediately.

Just thought I'd mention Nova Launcher added direct dial in a recent update. Works as intended, tap the icon and it dials the contact.
