Widget Size/Resolution

Hi guys,

I've recently upgraded my phone from a Samsung Galaxy S7 to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and in just over a day of use I'm really happy!

Initially the Mate 20 Pro is not as user friendly or refined as the Galaxy S7 but I've made a few of the recommended settings tweaks and I'm good now.

I do have an issue though. The Galaxy S7, despite being smaller, has a better resolution on the home screen widgets. Everything on the Mate 20 Pro just seems huge.

The attached image shows what I'm describing. Is there any way to make widget text and dimensions smaller within themselves? They seem to have a better resolution on the S7. Colornote and aCalendar+ on the Mate 20 Pro are useless unless I fill the screen with them both.

Cheers guys

Jazz

Try going into Display in settings and reduce the text size then press and hold on any empty space on your screen, go to home screen settings and maybe change the layout? Don't forget that this screen is much bigger than your S7 so most display settings are set to accommodate this. HTH, David.

... Also try adjusting the colour and eye comfort settings in display, yours seem a tad "warm" looking... A cooler setting might help.

Hi dc52ltr,

Thanks for the quick response, I've altered text settings which has helped for everything but widgets. It's just a bit strange that I can see more on my smaller Samsung screen than on the bigger Huawei screen. Maybe it's the OS?

Yeah I'm still playing about with the colour settings. Don't like it too blue but you may be right, a little warm at the moment.

Where is your Display Resolution sitting? It may be at FHD+ 1080P, set it to the highest which is WQHD+ 1440P in:
Settings - Display - Screen Resolution

Also, set the Text and Display size to the lowest settings in:
Settings - Display - Text and Display Size.

Here is how I have set mine on all the settings mentioned above:

Also ensure that your Home Layout is the largest at 5x6, to access this you need to get to your Home screen settings by pinching the display in Home screen and going to Home Screen Settings, select the top option which is Home Layout, and set it like this:

Tsepz_GP thank you for your response.

I have already been through all those settings and sorted them out. Still the Colornote widget seems to be how it is in the image I posted with it side by side with the Galaxy S7. I'm now just assuming that Colornote devs haven't updated their widget settings to suit Mate 20 Pro - maybe?

Maybe it's time to look for another sticky note app.

Thanks again, I appreciate the effort you have put into helping me with the images and walkthrough :-)
