Widgets not working after 5.1.1 update

I have a Verizon S6. After the 5.1.1 update, most of my widgets aren't working. Some will half work ei: Doggcatcher podcast widget, will not change album art but the play pause button works. Google Play music will not load, Verizon Wireless data usage will not load and the Google search bar will not work.

I have cleared cache, restarted the phone, power cycled . Both gave different results. The power cycle really killed the widget.

I too was facing the same situation on my brand new Moto G3 till just now. I just unboxed it and checked that it is running Android 5.1.1. The widgets were nowhere to be found in the regular places I knew of.

A YouTube video on the same topic helped me out of the issue. Tap long on the home screen and widgets option will be visible.
