I finally took the plunge and loaded CM7 and using GoLauncher....I like it actually....more than I thought.

Here is my only complaint....I like the HTC Widgets...especially the GPS and WiFi ones. I am trying to locate a GPS on/off one, but the only ones I have found take me to the Settings and then I have to pick the GPS check box....cumbersome if I am jogging or GeoCaching and want to switch it off to save battery.

I have Beautiful Widgets installed and it has it, but that takes you to the SETTINGS and have to click the check box....I just want one that simple does ON/OFF like the HTC one does!

Any suggestions?

There is a setting under the pull down from the top. It may even be there now. Drag it down and you should see the ability to change screen brightness, wifi, GPS, vibrate, bluetooth, and a few others.

Go task manager I think it is. One touch control of display wifi etc. you can even make it into a widget on your home screen.

Try Go switch widget. Surprised you havent tried that since your using Go launcher. When you add the switch widget to the screen, make sure to select the 1x1 widget, which then allows you select a Gps switch widget. You can also skin the widget. works great for me.

I did try that...but that takes you to the settings.....but thanks for suggesting it.

Not sure why that is happening for you. Not for me. Its a simple toggle. A pop up message appears when I toggle it to "ON", to inform me that I am enabling standalone GPS. Requiring just one more tap on the OKAY button. Maybe it has something to do with running CM7

I am just really lazy and got used to the HTC Widget....tapped on it....it turned it on....without going into the other screen.

It isn't really a show stopper, more just annoying than anything else. I will find a solution!

Go switch widget is a widget, it should just turn the gps on/off...shouldn't take you to a menu...admittedly again, im running bamf forever 1.11 (with go launcher on top), someone else pointed out maybe its a cm7 issue...

It probably is since CM7 is is "VANILLA" Gingerbread (hmmm...interesting flavor).

I do have Go Widget...messed with it a bit. I will just have to get use to the extra step I guess...or dump Go Launcher...which I won't...not right now at least.

I was under the impression that HTC had 'special' widgets that only worked with Sense to allow direct access to things like turning GPS on and off without the intermediate steps.
Since BAMF is a Sense-based ROM those HTC widgets still worked for me when I was still using that. Anyway, Liquid 3.2 has its own direct support for turning GPS on and off.

You can't use HTC widgets with go launcher regardless of the ROM you are running. Go launcher has it's own set of widgets. I use a sense ROM because I like the double shot camera and the sense lock screen, though FL launcher has a sense like like screen available also. My Verizon and NFL mobile also require a sense ROM.

The senwe lag drives me nuts.

Actually, about a week ago I installed Go Launcher EX. Generally, all was good, but the lag was driving me nuts. So I am returned to Sense this morning.

Sorry for the thread drift.

I went back to a SENSE ROM (i-Kream) and am running GoLauncher on top of it. The thing I like about GoLaunger, you can save the desktop and use it across all the ROMS....sense, de-sensed if I am running GoLauncher.
