how do I get rid of widgets from my tablet

To remove from home screen, long-press the widget and manouevre it to Remove, which should pop up as an option.
Or do you wish to banish them utterly from your tablet?

I actually Have a question regarding my phone. How do you get rid of widgets . I've tried the holding and removing but it doesn't work. Any other suggestions!

Long-pressing a widget should bring up a "Rrmove/Resize" menu. Remove will remove it. Or you'll see a trash can at the top or bottom of the screen - drag the widget to it. (It depends on the launcher you're using. Different phone manufacturers write different default launchers [the homescreen you see], and you might be using a 3rd party launcher, so there's no "one size fits all" description.
