I've looked through lots of threads but haven't found an answer. I primarily use wifi where I live, but when I go out, my phone doesn't automatically switch to the 3G. Is there a setting to change that will make the phone do this? Thanks so much! :)

if you leave your wifi area, the phone will grab a 3g connection to use (I forget to turn mine off sometimes) plus it will alert you to any open wifi's near you. The down side is that it will chew up your battery some since it'll be scanning for nearby wifi's.

I don't think there is a setting as it will automatically "switch" to wifi when the one your connected too is unavailable, but i'm sure there is an app that will perform that function.

The best thing is probably just to turn off your wifi when you go out until you're in an open wifi location that you're sure of, like a restaurant. Otherwise, it'll continue to search for a hotspot, using up your battery. I'm not sure, but I think even the apps that let you know when wifi is available are still constantly searching and using battery power.
