Wifi active with screen off?

Power savings kicks in if you aren't using the app - as soon as you use it, it turns on.
Even id the "app" is WiFi.

I think the OP is saying he was not using the app on the trouble device during the test. It received a internet via Wi-Fi message while snoozing.

Is there any apps or settings that one can check to see if their wifi is active when the screen is turned off? I have a suspicion that my wifi is not being used when in standby. Thanks.

If you go to settings→connection→data use →scroll down to WiFi data usage
