Android Central Question

I might be missing something here but anyway, I connect to a WIFI network I want to save the network but I don't want to auto-connect every time. This doesn't seem to be an option on my Pixel 3 XL. If there is an option could someone please enlighten me

have you looked in wifi settings
there's a toggle turn on wifi automatically make sure its checked off

The toggle is a bit hidden. If you go to Network and Internet, click on the first on the list which is Wi-Fi and your current network you go Use Wi-Fi and the first entry is your current network. Go all the way down the list of networks, mine is long, and you find "Wi-Fi preferences." There it is.

wasn't hard to find on mine
long press the wifi toggle and was at the bottom wifi preference.
From notifications panel

FYI, in Pie, it's a bit hidden too. Goto the wifi network page in settings. Tap Advanced in the UR corner. Tap Manage Networks near the bottom. Select the network you want to change. Toggle Auto Reconnect at the bottom.

I have the same question, and I don't think any of the replies above quite answer the question.

The answers above allow me to toggle the "Turn on wi-fi automatically" setting. This controls whether wi-fi is on or off on the phone. It doesn't control whether your phone auto-connects to saved networks. This option is available on Samsung and other Android phones I've had, but not on the Pixel 1 (or, apparently, Pixel 3 either).

Essentially, I want my Pixel (an old phone I now use only on wifi) to automatically connect to my home wi-fi, but I DON'T want it to automatically connect to my new phone's hotspot. Right now the only way to manually "forget" the hotspot when I'm done using it (which is easy to forget), or turn off wi-fi and also turn off the "turn on wi-fi automatically" setting.

As far as I can tell, the answer is "you can't," but if I missing something, please let me know. It seems odd that the Pixel only offers these "all-or-nothing" settings and doesn't allow each specific network to be customized.

The setting is on my year old Pixel 3. You must scroll all the way down to see it.

I had the Pixel 3 for a while and this option is missing, everyone else that says it is there are wrong. I have two WiFi networks at home and with my S10 I have them both saved but only have auto connect set for one. I don't get why Google removed this. Apple, Samsung, Windows 10, all have this option. Makes no sense.

I've had the setting turned on since day one when I got the phone but it didn't work for the longest time. Then after one of the latest updates it started working great . Pixel3xl here . I can have wifi off and it turns on automatically and connects to my car stereo my home network
