Wifi Automatically Turning On?

so guys i came here hoping to find how to fix this also, none of the work around worked for me but I did find a way to finally fix it.
here is how:
go to settings...under more option... go to mobile network... there is check mark for sprint to select the best network available to optimize your data plan, well turn that off and screw sprint...they want to us as much wifi as posible to use less their network.
that should do it, i am on a gallasy s2, so any other should be similar...
hope that helps everyone.

That's exactly what CheesyChester said above.

Thank you CC! My wife got a Samsung Galaxy S II and we found that occasionally the battery would get slammed. I found all sorts of fun Samsung BS to disable (e.g. AllShare and Kies media sharing software, no thanks) and that probably helped the power consumption. But the WiFi kept turning itself on, despite the fact that we'd explicitly turned it off. Finally today I noticed that the WiFi was turning itself on whenever the phone got plugged into a charger (USB). Aha! Some googling led me here and to the Sprint Connections solution. Those bastards!

My husbands Galaxy SII did the same thing although I'm certain I found the solution - the Advanced button is fairly tricky to find because it doesn't seem like there are any other items you can control, but if you go to Settings / Wireless and network / it looks like all you have is "Scan" and "Add Network" but aha... there's another button but hidden - the advanced button - all you have to do is tap the Menu button on the bottom far left outside the screen - the "Advanced" button should appear Now you will see Network notification - which is probably checked and then there are other options:
Keep Wifi on during sleep - the default is probably set at "Always" tap that and you will get options (Always / only when plugged in / Never (increases data usage)) switch it to never and you won't have to worry about the Wifi again turning itself on again!

Hope this helps someone! Sorry it was so late in helping you.:)

i have this kind of bothering! i found the solution myself, u have to go on running application section u will find unknown application is running, keep in mind or write it on paper or somewhere else, than go on all application section and click on that application which is turning on automatically wifi or data connections, than turn it disable u will find the satisfactory result! no matter to give me thanx for this :-p
