I am about to duplicate the problem after the first incident.

The N7 2013 is not able to detect my Asus AC66 5GHz N SSID (2.4GHz works fine). I am able to manually add 5GHz and it would work.
The problem is after I power off my N7. Next time it will stuck at the X (the four color one). I have to power off again and turn it on again.
It will boot up but I get the error the lanucher is not responding or something like that and my short cuts are gone.

My N7 is not rooted nor I use any 3rd party launcher.

This may help:

I have N4 running 4.3 and I have no problem (able to scan 5GHz N and have no problem during power off/on).

I also have the same issue with the Galaxy Nexus & the Nexus 10 so it is not device specific. I didn't really notice because I had the wifi set to auto. Setting to 5GHz drops the connection. Setting it to 2.4GHz only gives me about 1 bar. Setting it to auto gives me almost all bars. So what does that mean? 5GHz is sorta working but will not work on it's own? I'll wait until Google fixes this. I am not going to start playing with all my router settings.

Strange, my Nexus 7 works fine at 5GHz.

One thing to remember is 5GHz has a shorter range than 2.4 Ghz. Also, it does not penetrate through walls as well..

I have no issues with 5GHz wifi, what kind of routers are you guys using? Possibly a setting in the router?

I do not really think that is an issue if it worked fine with 4.2..........................

I have a few android devices, and I found the following:

LG L9 (4.1.2) can see any 5ghz band
HP Touchpad (4.2.2), Verizon Galaxy Nexus (4.3), NVIDIA SHIELD (4.2.1) couldn't see the router unless I set the 5ghz channel to 149, which I only found out because it was recommended to me by NVIDIA because I was having issues.

Router: RT-AC66U running DD-WRT (7/13 build)

By default my router (RT-AC66U) is set to ?Auto? for the 5Ghz channel selection. And when I checked, sure enough it is channel 149. Go figure?
