Is Google working to track down and squash the bug which causes the phone to randomly dump its WiFi connection?

I hope so.

Hasn't ever happened to me yet. Wonder what's going on with those dropping

I too have yet to have WiFi drop unexpectedly.
I have a NetGear R8000 NightHawk with a strong signal throughout my house.
I've not had a problem with WiFi in the several restaurants we frequent.
Recently while waiting for an hour in the doctor's office WiFi was no problem.
We're on Google Fi and office from home, so we're on WiFi constantly.
Could those having problems possibly have weak or outdated home WiFi?

Weak no, outdated probably. I'll have to see if it drops anywhere other than at home.

(It averages around -45 dBm where I usually sit.)

Same here no issues. I've experienced a few challenges here and there with Bluetooth hooked up in car.

Well, it's annoying, but they aren't getting my best and favorite ever phone back again.

I've had four different Pixel 2's on my home WiFi and none have had drops. Is this an acknowledged and documented bug?

That's more or less why I started this thread.

To find out if Google knew and/or cared, or if it is on my end.

Got it. Your wording implied a known bug and was confusing.

From the responses so far, it sounds like it's on your end.

Do you guys have any Google Home devices or Chromecasts? There's a known bug where those devices will cause WiFi reboots or devices to kick off your WiFi.

I have no Google Home devices.

Glad I clarified, and yes, it sounds that way.

I do, and the only time I have lost connectivity was when casting the screen/audio to my Google Home. Works fine for about 10 minutes, then dumps. This is pretty consistent behavior. I use it to listen to Audible. I need to do more experimentation, I don't think this is happening on the Google Home Mini.

That should have been fixed by now.

I have two Chromecast Ultra, a regular Chromecast, a Google Home, 2x Google Home Mini, and I haven't had any drops from WiFi on my phone.

Happened to me all the time until a couple of days ago. Phone would show full wifi strength, but apps, websites would load slow, if ever. Google Wifi app showed weak connection as well. A reboot intermittently helped.

I do have Google Wifi Mesh and several Chromecasts as well as a Google Assistant enabled speaker on same network.
