Wifi calling icon gone after Pie

I'm on Bell in Canada and have the icon before and after Pie. All new phones in Canada are now sold unlocked from the carrier.

I have a Verizon Note 9 still running Oreo. When I make a wifi call I see no icon in the status bar or words on the call screen indicating that the connection is via wifi. I have airplane mode on and wifi on, so it must be a wifi call.

I'm on Sprint and the Wifi calling icon is showing on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone after the latest update.

I noticed the same while on Oreo and now that I have Pie, it's still this way with Verizon.

I wish we could toggle Wi-Fi calling on/off. I've been in situations several times where I have to turn on Airplane Mode then switch Wi-Fi back on to make a call. It seems the least bit of cell service keeps me from going to Wi-Fi calling.
