Android Central Question

Hi there. Just made the jump from iPhone SE to Samsung Galaxy S10E which I bought in Vietnam, where I work, because I need dual SIM capabilities. Slot one has my local sim while slot two has my T-Mobile SIM.

I need to figure out how to make Wi-Fi calls over the Tmobile sim because otherwise I will spend a bunch of money Calling America every day. I have set the Wi-Fi calling function on in the Phone app settings but it still doesn't work. T-Mobile support told me to test by setting the phone on airplane mode and try to make a call but when I do that the phone just asked me to enable airplane mode. At this point TMobile support washed their hands of the situation. Please advise.

I don't think this is possible, unfortunately. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but you would need a T-mobile supported phone to get WiFi calling working. The S10e is supported by T-Mobile but you would have to get the US models that support that. International phones usually don't.

A way to get WiFi calling without changing phones is to get WhatsApp for that number and call your contacts that way.

You can send a tweet to John Legere on Twitter. They will make sure to help you if you tweet them. Good luck.

T-Mobile won't help you since you don't have their phone. You need the T-Mobile/US unlocked version to enable wifi calling.

There are many possibilities - a Google Voice account (at your US email address) and Hangouts Dialer is probably the easiest way. (Use a US-based VPN to set it up if you're still in Vietnam.) You could even port your TMobile number to GV (for a one-time $20 fee) and have it forward calls to your phone (via Hangouts). (You'd have to let TMobile know what you're doing so that, as soon as the number is ported out, they can assign you a new number and keep your account intact. Then set GV to forward to that new number.)

You could setup a Google voice number. I. Would then forward your Tmobile number to the Google number and use wifi. Should work really well. If you're calling a land-line, use Skype with your regular tmobile number. Easy to setup too.
