WiFi calling update and icon missing

Hi all,

Today my V20 received an update for the WiFi calling. I briefly saw some notification about it and maybe that's all it said or I dismissed it but along the lines of "android has updated the WiFi calling for to be more reliable" or something similar.

Now the icon has disappeared from the notifiarion bar at the top with no settings to bring that icon back that I can find.

WiFi calling is enabled under setting > Call > WiFi calling. Under the more advanced setting it set to WiFi preferred. I'm often in a building where I lose or no signal signal and need WiFi working.

I'm now getting notifications that text are failing to send, eventually they do but that might be when I briefly get a data signal. I've rebooted phone several times. My carrier (freedom mobile, Canada) supports WiFi calling on this device.

If I disable and reenable it takes a long time for it to say enabled, like 2min when it use to be seconds. Even when everyone enabled in settings its only log errors working. Its not a WiFi issue itself its something about this update. Pulling SIM out and reseating didn't help. Any ideas?

Phone is showing no further updates availabe. Anyone have a similar already problem or any suggestions?

Thankks!

So I did some further troubleshooting and testing and it's definitely not working. If i turn on airplane mode, then enable WiFi texts and calls will not work.

I've tried to re-register WiFi calling, where you put in your address for 911 calling and ll that, it launches a page from the career for that last, goes through and says I'll receive text once setup complete but nothing ever comes. Whatever this update was either killed WiFi calling or my carrier now has some settings they need to update or push. No fix as of yet and stuck without a phone basically as I heavily relied on WiFi calling.

Have you contacted the carrier?

I am on Verizon and never saw any Wifi calling updates. Just tried wifi calling and texting and it worked flawlessly in airplanee mode.

I wasn't able to call carrier as yesterday as I had no signal and WiFi not working.

I called this morning and did some useless troubleshooting with the Tier1 folks. Finally got to speak with Tier2 and they informed me of a WiFi calling vice outage impacting Freedom customers. Person I spoke with hadn't heard of an update either but said it is a known issue at this time and its being worked on with no ETA.

I'll have to wait and see I guess. Maybe when the outage occurred it triggered the Android message that said my settings were updated? Just speculation because I have no further details. That or whatever the update was that hit my phone messed something up on my carriers side that they are working to update.
@AtTheHop - thanks for confirming.
