WiFi calling

I flashed the T-Mobile 5.1.1 OTA last week and WiFi calling won't stay on. Anyone else have this problem? It worked fine for a few days but now it either doesn't work at all or it works intermittently

I side loaded the 5.1.1 update (TMO) with NRT. I rebooted into recovery and did a complete factory wipe. Phone restarted into 5.1.1, did the setup and wifi calling has been working great ever since. I did have to make a few minor port opening changes in my TMO cell spot router, but I haven't noticed any voice difference after those changes.

Use tmobiles WiFi router made by Asus its optimized for it mine works fantastic no dropped calls if youcall customer service I think they will charge u 25 dollar deposit its a 150 dollar router

I actually misspoke. I have T-Mobile's WiFi router that is made by Asus (not T-Mobile hot spot), but I still get dropped calls. My account is activated for Wi-Fi use and there are no e911 issues with my account. However, it seems that dropped calls happen more frequently when I initiate the calls.

My WiFi calling seems to be working now at home. Maybe it took a few days to fully register with T-Mobile, idk. It also transitions from WiFi to the cell tower and back during a call without any problems. Nice trick. Even though I never had calling issues with 1 bar signal strength before I guess I'll keep it on. I'm currently using a cheapy $10 WiFi router but will try out the cellspot router from tmo eventually.

Okay... So I my have asked this question before, but does anyone know if WiFi Calling will be coming to the Sprint version of the Nexus 6?

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet.... This implementation of WiFi Calling is a bit different than what you have on, say, a LG G3. On the G3, your phone's radio gets disabled as soon as you nail up the WFC connection. Nexus 6 keeps your phone radio active the entire time. This feature kind of piggybacks on what we see in Project Fi, meaning that Google's goal here is to a) pick the best available network and b) make sure the handoff between networks in seemless and downtime is reduced.

It may very well be that they are looking at some kind of Quality of Service score and your Wifi connection doesn't pass muster, so it switches you off and on to your phone radio.

Oh, and some work networks could be blocking the necessary packets you need for WiFi Calling. My work network would break WFC on my old G3, but the Nexus 6's works.... but it may very well be that your work network policies block it.
This pretty much sums it up on how WiFi calling really functions on the Nexus 6. It is a QoS system indeed.

I have not heard of any plans to have WFC on Sprint. And looking around a little bit, it is a lot of people asking if Sprint will get it and no rumor sites saying that it will.

The fact that there isn't even a rumor of it coming to Sprint, that's not so good news....

I used goolge hangouts dialer via WiFi on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean and was able to make calls home with a slight delay in the call.
