WiFi data manager?

I was recently in a location where I had to use - and pay for - WiFi data. A few of my apps kept downloading stuff in the background and taking the majority of my data plan, when I really was just wanting my business email to work.

I see cell data "managers" in the play store, but does anyone know of one that can manage which apps are allowed to use WiFi (or any) data connection? Maybe with "profiles" to switch in and out of?

Really an outbound firewall with a nice interface, I guess?

There are so many firewalls it would be difficult to download them all and test them for you, but at least a few have been written (granted, for Windows) that allow you to set whether any particular app can act as a server on the internet or access the internet at all (basically, have incoming connections or make outgoing connections), so there's hope that a few of those written for Android may have the function. Mobiwol: NoRoot Firewall may do what you want.
