WiFi download speeds on note 4

I have a note 4 and a note 3. I've noticed that the download speeds on my note 4 are half of what I would get on my note 3. Anyone else seeing slower speeds?

No, I find it's actually a bit faster on Note 4 for me.

Interesting. If I hold both phones next to each other, the 3 will see 40's and 50's. But the note 4 will barely see 10 on a download.

Any chance the 3 is still on 4.3? 4.4 and up seems to have a speed problem with TKIP encryption. Use a guest account (no encryption) or AES (not TKIP+AES) and it may help. (I had to go as far as a new router - the cheap $40 Netgear N300 works fine with AES, the $160 Linksys doesn't.)

Go into Settings/General/About device and see what the baseband versions are.

Just bought mine today and I couldn't download a single app when on Wifi. Kept getting errors for everything. I went in and removed my home network and added it back in and it helped, but it is still slow. I have my Note 2 out and running on the wifi and the 2 gets messages about a min or 2 before the 4.
I really don't want to buy a new router too after buying this today.

On my Note 4: Ping-97ms Download-4.73mbps Upload-0.21 mbps
On my Note 2: Pint-21ms Download-16.02mbps Upload-6.04mbps

Dualband netgear max range. I've been needing to buy a new router anyway. Looking at the R6100.

I have the Note Edge which is similar and the exact opposite is what I see. I run Speedtest.net on mine and noticed that the speed on my Edge is dramatically better than the Note 3 was. This is based on wifi and not cell data.

What has your experience been with the R8000? I just returned mine today because it was a massive headache with the constant dropped connections. I loved the router speed and signal strength. I updated the latest firmware to try and improve stability along with contacting Netgear for assistance.

I have had zero problems....the only problem I had was to many people in my neighborhood using 2.4ghz. There are over 20 routers in range causing interference. Now I only use 5ghz or 5ghz ac wifi.

So I have bought a new router and the phone works fantastic. For whatever reason it didn't like my old router. Not nearly as fast as the guy with the $300 router but it gets the job done that's for sure.

I'm seeing great wifi based downloads on my Note 4. I upgraded our router late last year to an Asus RT-AC66U because we were having lots of problems with dropped connections and very slow speeds on several of our devices. Our household has 2 TVs, 3 PCs and several smartphones and tablets on wifi and the performance was getting terrible. After updating to the Asus we get great connectivity and throughput.

I use the merlin mod on the router and it is very easy to configure for most household/small office setups.
