Does anyone know if you need to install special Verizon software on the device to link it to the phone?? or is does the device (i.e. laptop) detect the phone as a hotspot and ask for a WEP key like at an airport hotspot or something like that??

I'd assume it'll be similar to the wifi hotspot built into froyo, where you configure WEP or WPA encryption on the phone, then just connect to your phone's hotspot like your home hotspot. No software required.

If it's built into FroYo, cAn the carrierssill charge you for using the device as a hot spot?

its on 2.1 which comes on the phone at launch so i guess its fair game for being charged
