WiFi Hotspot and rooted T-Mobile S4

Ok, so I finally got my phone rooted, downloaded my Wireless Tether app and got it to work. Trying to stream football on my laptop - no problem. But when I go to my T-Mobile app it shows that I'm still using up the 500MB of HotSpot data I'm allotted. Is that accurate? I rooted in part so I could use a wireless HotSpot and not be limited or charged. Is there any way around this?? I need to get this figured out now that college football season has started! I need my free wifi hotspot! Thanks
