WiFi icon gone white, sync errors

Has anybody else had this problem?
The WiFi icon has gone from blue to white. Unable to sync anything. unable to sign on with google talk, gmail, stock browser etc...Did a factory reset and still unable to sign onto google servers. have tried to manually re sync item by item, but to no avail. Gtalk gives error report," unable to establish connection with the server.
Have rebooted my router and wifi, rebooted Xoom ad infinitem. is this a hardware/software issue, or am I broken?
Xoom WiFi version stock, no roms running ICS
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Seems the problem resolved itself. After hours and hours of frustration, I powered off the Xoom and stuck it on a shelf for 2 days. Powered on this morning and what do you know, everything is working fine. I am thinking this may somehow be a problem with google servers. However, having read thru hundreds of pages of posts in this, google and other forums, I have discovered that this problem is not unusual, yet there seems to be no answer to why this happens or how to prevent/cure it. Google is little to no help
