Ok so im having wifi issues... like so many others, but mine don't seem to be the same so i wanted to see if i was alone or what.

First of all, i can't use a widget to turn on wifi. If i do wifi will turn on bit wont connect. When i open the wifi settings menu and turn on wifi that way, as long as i watch it connect to the network it will go fine. If i use a widget to turn on wifi, i have to then open wifi settings. I don't have to tap on my network, i just have to look at the list for it to connect.

Also, my wifi doesn't disconnect from my network, but it will stop pulling data. Ill be in the middle of browsing, or watching a streaming video and all of a sudden no more data will transfer. I live in a dead zone, so i don't have any 3g in the house and very little 1x. Its annoying to have to leave what im doing, turn off wifi, turn it back on, watch it connect to the network, then go back to what i was doing.

Anyone else have this strange issue with widgets and randomly loosing data flow while connected?

If it matters im using a monkeys router (wg54 something i think) and using wep.

Maybe ill try that. What a huge PITA. Will it remember my free apps and allow me to redownload them after the factory reset... I just got this thing right where I like it too ;)

Yes, be sure to install and sync with App Brain before you do an hard reset. It works great for that.

Nope. Still having the same issues. With the X's wifi problems its hard to know if the issue is with my router or my phone. I updated the router to the latest firmware. The fact that its a different issue then everyone else is having makes me think that it may be the router, but I dont see how it would cause the wierd connection issue.

So I take it im alone with this problem?

Were your issues similar to mine? I went from wpa2 to wep... ill set it insecured if it'll help, but im not sure if it will.

Its a linksys router, i don't know the model#. This is very frustrating. I love the phone but this is close to a deal breaker.

I am on WPA-2personal. My problem was that it looked like it connected but every time I tried to load a page I got a cnnection error. tried multiple sites and no go. its been sitting about fifteen minutes and i just googled starbucks and it loaded right up! try going down to G if it wont affect other devices.

I just checked and i guess i was still on wpa personal. I switched it to wep and also set it to g only (its a b/g router). So far i've had data flow for about 2 minutes, which is longer then i was getting. Maybe it doesn't like running both b and g?

Havnt tried the widget issue yet, but that's minor compared to not having data traffic. Sure does seem faster though.

For those with N routers, before you play around too much with the security, just try setting your router to "802.11g only". After a lot of trial and error, this worked for me.

Well, after changing to g only and wep, i have maintained a solid data flow for several hours today. I even managed to download 2 movies from blockbuster uninterupted (that hasn't happened before).

I still have the strange issue where it wont obtain an ip from the router unless im looking at the settings menu. Its annoying but i replaced my widget with a shortcut to the wifi settings menu. It adds a couple of taps, but as long as i keep a connection i can handle it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
