My wife's phone has an issue with data over WiFi. My phone connects without any issues, email, texts, internet, apps, everything works. Her's not so much, and it seems to be hit and miss. We both have full WiFi signal at the house. Looking at the signal strength screens side by side our numbers are identical, but she'll try to send a pic in a txt, or an MMS, and it will take from minutes to hours for it to go through, if it goes through. This also affects her getting online, or accessing the market. I know she gets texts pretty consistently, but they are just texts not MMSs. Sometimes if I turn her WiFi off, whatever isn't working, will work if the phone sees 3G or 4G, but getting a decent data signal in our house is virtually impossible. We have to use Big Red's Samsung network extender to get a phone signal. This is why it's so important to us to figure this out. That being said, once or twice turning off either the WiFi and/or Network connection and turning it back on seemed to get things working, but not always, and not consistently. Since we have the same phone, and I'm not having issues, it is my guess that it is either;
settings related, like she turned something on/off or some app that's installed changed a setting OR
it's purely app related. Like something isn't compatible with something and it's clogging up the works.
As for the settings I've checked all of hers (the ones that seem most likely) against settings on my phone and haven't found any differences. Totally unrelated but I have found that I have settings for the Charm and she doesn't? I know it's not related I just think it's interesting.
She uses Facebook like an addict, (deleted my mini rant about hating FB. I hate it!). Anyway even though I've warned her to read reviews and check ratings before downloading apps, she always ends up having issues with airpush ads, and spam texts. It's like she doesn't get it.
Reading over responses in other threads, that didn't offer any answers that worked for me, it seems most people have tried adjusting their router settings. I looked at mine and adjust one or two settings as others had suggested. Then checked her phone for data connection. Eventually I put the settings back. While her phone had data at the time I was looking at the settings it also had data when I put the settings back. I could browse, but pic texts wouldn't go through.
I think I should mention that we had the same phone before this (the Inc) and she had the similar issues with pic texts. We had the same SMS but when she started having issues she switched. It seemed to work for while, but eventually reverted. I never had issues with my Inc. This is why I'm convinced it's an app or FB related. No one with similar issues is thinking, or posting that they think, it's app related or even just a bum phone.
I'm kind of counting out the bum phone theory just because the odds of us getting the same phone two different times, and both of hers having data issues, but not mine are incredible. I'd say my odds of hitting the loto are just as likely.
I want to get a feel to see if anyone else is having similar issues that aren't being solved by settings changes, or know of some settings that I haven't check. Any heavy FB users out there. If nothing turns up I'll be forced to hard reset her phone. And if that doesn't do it, then it's back for a warranty/insurance claim. A third phone would pretty much seal the deal on it being installed junk over true phone problems.
